The entities that make up the Financial System and Payment system are regulated and supervised by the Central Bank of Uruguay (BCU) through the Superintendency of Financial Services (SSF) and the Payments System Management.

Pursuant to article 37 of Law N° 16,696 of march 30, 1995 as amended by article 9 of Law N° 18,405 of October 24, 2008 and articles 1 through 3 of Law N° 18,643 of February 9, 2010.
